Director’s CornerBuilding Momentum, Strengthening CommunityWomenFirst continues to move forward with a renewed focus on community engagement, quality service delivery, organizational sustainability, and creating meaningful pathways for women to thrive. Over the past several months, we have worked intentionally to strengthen our foundation while expanding our presence in the community. We are increasing the use of both WomenFirst locations, building new community partnerships, strengthening our internal policies and data systems, exploring revenue-generating opportunities, and creating more ways for participants to develop skills through volunteerism and community engagement. That progress is already visible. WomenFirst participants are volunteering at our Drop-In Center and community events, our outreach team continues connecting women and families to critical resources, and partnerships such as ACHIEVE/REACH are helping us broaden our community impact. We were also proud to participate in Soul Stroll 2026 and look forward to continuing that community presence throughout the coming months. As we move into the fall, there is much to be excited about. Our Back-to-School Giveaway on September 4 will support local students and families, Cohort 2 of our Reclaim Your Power Domestic Violence Support Group begins September 18, and WomenFirst will continue community outreach at events such as the Play Grow Learn Farmers Market. In October, our Domestic Violence Advocates will also participate in the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence Annual Conference, bringing additional knowledge, resources, and best practices back to the women we serve. Our next chapter is about moving from stabilization to strategic activation and sustainability—making better use of our resources, strengthening our programs, investing in our staff and participants, and ensuring WomenFirst remains a trusted and accessible resource for our community. Thank you to our staff, Board, volunteers, community partners, participants, and supporters who continue to believe in this work. Together, we are building a stronger and more sustainable WomenFirst.
